I believe everyone has a problem with religion – just not their religion. The Torah was given to identify sin (Romans 5:13), and during the time of Jesus religious Pharisee and Sadducee factions had issues with the behavior of Jesus based on their strict adherence and interpretation of Torah. Unfortunately, they failed to recognize Jesus as the promised Messiah, their Savior, and therefore his miracles were a source of righteous indignation among the religious, in part because some were performed on the Sabbath. Rather than be humbled and in awe of the wisdom and miracles of Jesus, they sought to stop him…

…and they did, physically. The Old Testament has many references regarding the Messiah and the plan for salvation of Jews and Gentiles alike. The plan, designed before the beginning of time, unfolded flawlessly. Jesus Christ, Son of God, came to this earth as a sinless man and acceptable sacrifice to God for the sins of the entire world. By paying the price of death for our sin, Jesus made a way for everyone to be saved from the wages of sin (death), offering instead mercy and forgiveness for sin, resulting in eternal life. Christ rose from the dead, defeating the power of sin and death, and now reigns with God.

The choice lies with each individual. While Christ offered his very life for our sins, our acceptance of His sacrifice determines our eternal fate; eternity in the presence of God, or separation from God.
